Local Actress is "The Girl"
Wednesday, August 18, 2010

In case you haven't heard, Westchester native actress Rooney Mara, 25, will play the newest part coveted by every A-list actress in Hollywood: the punk, binge-drinking hacker, borderline Asperger's character named Lisbeth Salander in the David Fincher-directed remake of Swedish thriller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Edging out many well-known actresses reportedly including Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansen, and Emma Watson, Rooney will begin shooting the film this September in Sweden, with a U.S. release date of December 21, 2011.
When asked for their thoughts, Mara's parents said, "We are thrilled for Rooney to play such an iconic character as Lisbeth Salander. It is very satisfying for her and us as parents when all the hard work finally pays off. That being said, there's a lot of responsibility that comes with such a big role, but we believe she has what it takes."
As most Suzy gal pals know, this book and its two subsequent novels are HUGE hits and we're sure the movie will be too. Suzy will absolutely be there to support our local star power and see how she brings this complex character to life!
