Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Sunday, May 22, 10:30 am warm-up, 11:00 am walk
Women throughout our region are gearing up for the sixth annual Breast Cancer Alliance “Hands Across the Avenue” walk to fund advances in research and promote breast health. Presented by the Alliance and Platinum Sponsor Omnicom Group, the one-mile walk will take place on Sunday, May 22, beginning and ending at Richards of Greenwich, 359 Greenwich Avenue.
The entry fee is $20 or $10 for students (children under six are free). Grand Marshal Dickerman Hollister, Jr., MD, of Hematology & Oncology Associates of Greenwich (HOAG), will lead this year's walk. Richards has once again generously opened up its parking lot to host this event, one of many BCA activities the Mitchell family supports. The walk will be followed by a complimentary celebration honoring breast cancer survivors, their families and friends. Refreshments will be provided by Z Hospitality Group (Mediterraneo and Terra in Greenwich) proprietor Ramze Zakka and Executive Chef Albert DeAngelis and include delectables such as yogurt parfait, artisanal breads, coffee, juice and fresh fruit. Water will be provided by Pepsico, Inc. The day of the walk, all registrants will receive a commemorative hat generously donated by Bill Gedney of Hat Attack.
