Westchester County Parks - Kids Fair
Wednesday, April 06, 2011
Families can learn about the many programs and facilities that are available to them through Westchester County Parks during the 100.7 WHUD Kids Fair, Saturday, April 16, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
Now in its 16th year, the event brings together hundreds of families with toddlers through teens to enjoy a day of fun with educational displays, games and interactive exhibits, along with a live radio broadcast.
Families are invited to visit Westchester County Parks on the main hall stage, which will offer a sampling of programs and activities. Have fun learning about animals from Muscoot Farm in Somers, camping at Mountain Lakes Park in North Salem, and what you can discover hiking along many of our trails and through the more than 18,000 acres of county parkland.
Kids can get up and moving at the county’s Be Fit-Mobile with hula hoops, jump ropes and other fun activities to keep fit. Parents can also pick up information on many county-sponsored programs. Information on the award-winning Children’s Summer Ecology camps held at the county nature preserves, the Westchester Summer Music Center, the Slam Dunk Basketball and the Girls Volleyball camps, all held at the County Center, as well as the Hole-in-One Junior Golf Camp and the new Soccer Camp will be available.
Westchester residents can purchase a County Park Pass, allowing them access to county-owned parks, pools, beaches and other facilities, and providing discounts in user and parking fees.
Admission is $5 for children and $8 for adults.
The 100.7 WHUD Kids Fair is presented by the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center, and Westchester County Parks with support from The Journal News, Con Edison, News 12 Westchester, Westchester Family Magazine and Westchester Parent Magazine.
The County Center is located at 198 Central Avenue in White Plains. Parking is $5 per car. Call the County Center at (914) 995-4050, or log on to www.countycenter.biz.
