New York State Summer Reading Program Sign-Up Begins
Sign-Up begins the week of June 21 and continues through Aug 20th.

Public libraries across the State provide reading-based activities all summer long with Summer Reading at New York Libraries. Research has shown that children who continue to read during the summer vacation perform better in the fall when school resumes. Summer reading programs make educational reading activities fun and appealing to young people. Summer Reading at New York Libraries gives teachers and parents a proven learning tool that engages and excites youngsters as it raises literacy levels. This is a critically important experience that keeps children learning—and engaged in the wonderful act of reading—even when the school year is over.—State Education Commissioner David Steiner
