Sole Ryeders' Event You Don't Want to Miss!
Simple Solutions to Protect Your Family From Environmental Hazards in our Everyday World
Learn how exposures to common household items such as pesticides, cosmetics, water bottles, canned foods and storage containers can affect your family’s health.

Sole Ryeders & Friends, a local non-profit organization committed to educating the community on current health topics, is pleased to announce that they will be hosting an informative talk on Friday, May 21st at 9:30am at the Wainwright House located on Milton Point in Rye, NY.  Guest presenters include Karen Joy Miller and Rhonda Sherwood who will discuss how everyday environmental exposures to both children and adults may lead to increased risks of cancer and other illnesses.  They will reveal how small changes we make at home can have a great impact on the future health of our families and ourselves.  Information from the Breast Cancer symposium held Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City in 2009 will be highlighted.

Sponsored jointly by the Mount Sinai Hospital’s Children’s Environmental Health Center (CEHC), Prevention is the Cure, and Sole Ryeders & Friends.

Karen Joy Miller is the President and Founder of Huntington Breast Cancer Action Coalition (HBCAC).  HBCAC is a not-for-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the ultimate eradication of breast cancer through education and awareness. Their mission is to focus on prevention methods while actively helping those who are faced with a positive diagnosis.  She is also the founder of Prevention Is the Cure, an anti-disease, environmental group that brings fresh perspective to the causes of disease rather than ways of coping once diagnosed with a focus on environmental triggers and genetic predispositions.

Rhonda Sherwood, BSE, MBA is the Vice Chairman, Mount Sinai Children's Environmental Health Center (CEHC), New York.  The CEHC, under the leadership of Dr. Philip Landrigan, researches the environmental causes of disease in children and adults.

Free admission. To register for the event please go to SoleRyeders or call (914) 412-4884.

Sole Ryeders & Friends is a community-based organization committed to promoting women's health and wellness.
We accomplish this through:
• providing education and awareness
• linking community members with appropriate resources
• grassroots fundraising efforts
• supporting and partnering with organizations that promote women's health

Who are we?
We're a group of women, mostly from Rye, New York who support various women's health initiatives.  Our 'anchor' fundraising and team event is participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in New York City.

What do we do?
We educate and raise awareness & money for a variety of women's health causes including, but not limited to, breast cancer.  We partner with local organizations to help improve women's health and wellness in our community.  Additionally, we serve as a link for community members who are in need of specific health resources.
While most Sole Ryeders & Friends participate, in some capacity, in the Avon Walk, we encourage anyone with an interest in women's health to become involved.  There are several projects for interested volunteers to become involved with.
