This weekend, the fairgrounds surrounding the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona Park will be filled with 500 makers, crafters, tinkerers, hackers, thinkers and artisans, who will show off their wacky robots, homemade needlework, home brews and millions of other wild things. There will also be a crafts pavilion and a young makers area, and fantastic demos, installations and performances, like the Coke Zero & Mentos Fountains and the life-size recreation of the popular board game Mouse Trap.

World Maker Faire tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for kids per day in advance (it's more at the door). adults.

Maker Faire is a mash up of people doing different things. Some sell their creations, others display or perform their work, and many offer hands-on activities. You'll find giant corporations, like the Martha Stewart booth which dominated the crafts pavilion last year, next to school-age kids selling handmade PVC Marshmallow Shooters. There are also many local presenters, like Loop of the Loom, the Museum of Math, RoboFun and, of course, the New York Hall of Science.

Here are a few booths but click below to et the schedule:

Coke Zero & Mentos Fountains
Geysers of soda shoot more than 20 feet into the air in this mint-powered version of the Bellagio Fountains, brought to you by the mad scientists of EepyBird. Their online videos actually received two Emmy nominations.

Life-size Mouse Trap
This hand-crafted, 16-piece, 50,000-pound interactive kinetic sculpture is set atop a 6,500-square-foot game board. In addition to marveling at the fact that people actually made this, you can enjoy a Vaudeville-style show with mice can-can dancers, clown workers, acrobatic high jinks and an original score by one-woman band Esmerelda Strange. My son was obsessed with this last year!

Wonderfall
A glowing manmade waterfall that features different visuals in the water thanks to programmable valves.

Deconstruction Zone
Kids six and up can crack open a bunch of computers, VCRs, radios and other technology to explore their inner workings.

Brooklyn Aerodrome
Want to make your own remote-controlled flying trash? Well, now you can. Brooklyn Aerodome is providing kits, plans, buddy box sessions and advice for those interested in creating a cheap, tough and great flying delta wing.

Circus Warehouse
Watch the pros do various circus feats and then hone your own skills.

FishBikez!
It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's folks in giant fish costumes on bicycles!

Carousolar
Did you miss GE's solar-powered carousel down at the South Street Seaport? Well you still have a chance to go for a spin.

TreaterBot
I can't wait for this one: A 3D Rice Krispy Treat printer that spits out edible Rice Krispy Treats.
