Teatown, A get away that's not so far away in Ossining
Thursday, June 23, 2011

Are you looking for a family adventure that's not too far away? Teatown in Ossining may be just the spot your looking for. This is the place where your kids can run and jump and play all while enjoying nature.
Teatown’s nearly 15 miles of trails are used annually by over 15,000 hikers for nature study and other outdoor enjoyment (e.g. jogging, cross country skiing, snowshoeing) and for many of our year-round education activities, including our summer nature camp. Teatown maintains fourteen trails that traverse nearly 15 miles, over diverse terrain and habitats, including abundant fields, mixed hardwood forests, laurel groves, lakes, streams, swamps and farm land. The trails range from easy/novice to moderately difficult. Teatown's preserve provides visitors with a unique glimpse of the biological diversity of the entire Hudson Hills and Highlands region. The trails connect to the Briarcliff Peekskill Trailway and the Croton Aqueduct Trail.
Saturday, June 25: Butterflies of Teatown! 10:00 AM. Explore Teatown’s fields and forest with Charlie Roberto in search of butterflies. FREE for members and non-members.
Saturday, June 25: Lenape Life! 1:00 – 2:30 PM. Experience what a day in the life of the indigenous people of the Hudson Hills and Highlands would have been like 400 years ago by visiting our wigwam and longhouse, playing games and using replicated tools and artifacts. Meets at Cliffdale Farm.
