Sony Wonder Tech Lab
Whether it's video games, dad's iPad or doing homework on the family computer, kids are totally locked into technology these days.  That's what makes the city's Sony Wonder Technology Lab (SWTL) totally cool with Suzy's family.  SWTL is a free interactive technology and entertainment experience for people of all ages.  Located in Midtown, this four-story space is full of engaging, family friendly exhibits where you can interact with a Sensi-tile touch wall, trace an email or photo through an worldwide interactive map, or even perform virtual surgery.

This place is popular and free, so you should call to make reservations ahead of time. Book between 7 days to 3 months before you plan to go. The automated reservation line is (212) 833-8100, and reservations are taken Tuesday-Friday between 9am -2pm.  There are a few same-day tickets available when the SWTL opens but walk-up visitors are encouraged to come early, as tickets go quickly. Tickets are valid for the specific time indicated.

You know how to play the game, but do you know how the game is played? Go beyond what’s on your screen and explore the inner workings of the PlayStation® and PlayStation®2 consoles and Dual Shock2 controller. Learn what makes these devices uniquely designed for video game playing and how they differ from your computer. Take it apart yourself as museum staff guide you through the process piece by piece. No reservation required and space is limited. Best suited for ages 8 and up.

Family Workshop: Who Do You Love - Thursday, February 10th & Saturday, February 12th (3-4pm)
Watch Elmo’s World: Elmo Loves You and join us for a special workshop where you can celebrate Valentine’s Day by decorating a special jewelry box or picture frame for someone you love. No reservation required and space is limited. $5.

Tech for Tots: Learning with Computers - Thursday, February 24th (1-2:30pm)
Join us for a special workshop where you can use technology as a learning tool for your child. Children explore shapes, colors, and letters while being introduced to some of the basic functions of a computer. Reservations for up to 2 children can be made beginning the Monday of the week the program is offered by calling (212) 833-7858. Best suited for children at a pre-k to kindergarten learning level.

Sci-tech Workshop:Animal Creations - Saturday, February 26th (1-3pm)
Team up and join us to create your very own digital animation. Using stop motion animation techniques, some paper, and your imagination, you and your team will make it all come together. Burn a copy of your completed animation to take home. Reservations of up to 4 children can be made beginning the Monday of the week the program is offered by calling (212) 833-7858. Best suited for ages 8 and up. $5.
