Raising Good Citizens
Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Head to the city this weekend for an inspiring day at the Children's Museum of Manhattan. All weekend long (January 15-17 from 10am-5pm), CMOM will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through art and music as part of its ongoing Raising Citizens program.
Workshops:
- Come celebrate the tri-state area's diversity by creating a collage of your neighborhood. For ages 4 and younger.
- Pledge to make a difference in your community and then create a medal illustrating your promise. Great for kids ages 5 and up.
Featured Exhibits:
- American Dream Quilt - created at CMOM by children and families working with artists such as Faith Ringgold
- Freedom’s Feast Dinner Plate Collection - designed by artists and children’s book illustrators
- Make a Difference Mural - illustrates how teens have each made a difference in their communities.
Special Performances:
- Pop star Aaron Nigel Smith performs an upbeat show guaranteed to get the whole family moving on Saturday 1/15 at 2pm
- The Harlem Gospel Choir will be in concert on Monday 1/17 for two shows (3pm and 4pm)
See the event calendar for exact dates and times of the activities.
Raising Citizens will take place Saturday through Monday from 10am - 5pm. The events are free with regular museum admission. You must register for the workshops on the day-of the event.
