An affordable and fabulous piece of glamour
Sunday, July 26, 2009

I recently purchased my new favorite accessory from my friend and fashion designer, Kristin MacMahon. Metallic and cuffs are "big" again this fall and my latest cuff from Kristin is indeed the perfect touch of glamour for any outfit, and also so much more than meets the eye.
Kristin has designed for many major brands (Nike, Target, Gap, etc.) so she knows her stuff, but most currently Kristin has decided to try her hand as a freelance designer that also travels the world for creative inspiration – love that! On one of her research/inspiration trips to Florence a while back she found an artesian there that was creating the most amazing variety of metallic cuffs. One of the most fascinating things about these cuffs is that they gave the "optical illusion" that they were constructed in metal, when actually they are made of pliable, lightweight, Italian leather. At that time she purchased as many of the cuffs as she could and gave them as gifts to friends and family as a little bit of product research. The cuffs were extremely well received and coveted by friends of friends and strangers alike, all of them wanting to know how they could buy one of their own, (I can attest to that, the same thing happens to me when I'm wearing Kristin's cuff.)

She planned a trip back to Florence, Italy as soon as possible after she realized what an incredible business opportunity she had in front of her. She located the artesian (lucky for all of us), and has now made a business of starting to sell these beauties in the states. The San Francisco Chronicle has called these cuffs "a must-have" and I couldn't agree with them more.
