The Twig Centennial Golf Tournament

The Twig, Inc will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this year! In honor of this accomplishment, it will be holding a Centennial Golf Tournament on Monday, June 13th at Apawamis Club in Rye. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Carver Center and local healthcare charities.
Mrs. J Van Wyck Wickes founded The Twig Organization of New York United Hospital in Rye in 1911. It initially began as a sewing circle assisting the Supply Department of United Hospital in Port Chester, however it eventually grew to become a major source of fundraising for United Hospital. Twigs have sewn articles of clothing, managed shops, run golf and tennis tournaments and hosted countless other fundraising events, resulting in the contribution of tens of millions of dollars to United Hospital Medical Center in Port Chester. In addition to the time given for fundraising, Twigs have graciously volunteered their service to the hospital, and on behalf of the hospital, out in the community.
Since 2005 when United shut its doors, the Twig organization became The Twig, Inc. Its mission continues to be to the support of health care needs in the local community. There are 14 active TWIG chapters with a combined membership of 250. There are also 31 associate/honorary TWIG chapters. In May of each year, a TWIG committee reviews all grant proposals and presents their recommendations for financial or volunteer assistance.
Two major beneficiaries of The Twig, Inc are the Harrison Volunteer Ambulance Corps and The Port Chester-Rye-Rye Brook EMS. In addition the following other organizations have received funds from The Twig, Inc. –Open Door Family Medical Center in Port Chester, Port Chester Carver Center, The Clay Arts Center, The Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library and The Port Chester-Rye-Rye Brook Senior Center.
