Furniture Sharehouse
The Furniture Sharehouse isa not-for-profit volunteer organization that provides individuals and families with the basic household furnishings that enable them to rebuild their lives and live with dignity. By working only with the clients of member social service agencies, Furniture Sharehouse ensures that aid goes directly to those who most truly need it.

These individuals and families include:
    * Those moving out of homeless shelters into permanent housing
    * Battered women and children escaping domestic violence
    * Working families struggling to stay above the poverty line
    * Young adults aging out of foster care
    * Victims of fires, bedbug infestation or other natural disasters.

Furniture Sharehouse collects gently-used and new furniture from the
general public and vendors and redistributes it free of charge to clients referred
by member social service agencies, ensuring that it goes DIRECTLY to those
who truly need it.

They offer a pick-up service ($20 for at least 3 major items or more) and
will provide you with a donation receipt for your taxes.   Or items may be
dropped at their warehouse hangar at the nearby Westchester County Airport on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30-11:30. They also hold several furniture drives throughout the year to collect furniture (ie. recycling day at Playland).

The most needed items are mattresses....mattresses...mattresses...
The next most popular item that our clients ask for is a kitchen table and chair so they can eat together as a family. Parents often want dressers for their children so they can better organize their clothes which will enable them to do better at school. Sofas, chairs, lamps and small tables are always needed as well.
