Family Fun Day in Honor of Lily
Come and play at Family Fun Day in honor of Lily Hannah Taubin.

Life: The Place to Be
2 Lawrence St.
Ardsley, NY

Sunday, September 26 from 10:30- 2:30

In November 2009, our community lost one of its most valuable treasures, five-year-old Lily Hannah Taubin. Diagnnosed with an inoperable malignant brain tumor in June 2008, Lily- a warm-spirited remarkable child- endured many surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy over the subsequent 16 months of her life.

On October 27, 2008, Lily underwent surgery to relieve pressure on her brain. She never recovered. A week later, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her favorite pink toys in her room with her family and friends. In Lily's short time with us, she made an enormous impact on the people around her, which is why they have chosen to honor her memory in a way that will enable her legacy to live on in the same manner in which she lived, embracing learning.

The Letters for Lily Program commissioned the writing of a Sefer Torah designed specifically for children. This sacred torah will be used by the Jewish Community of Harrison's (JCCH) Early Childhood Center, the preschool that Lily loved and that supported her before and during her illness.

This Sefer Torah will reflect Lily's passion for writing and coloring and will incorporate creative, interactive lessons, and arts and crafts. It will embody the commitment she gave to all of her projects, no matter how small the task. The Torah will make an indelible mark on the children of the JCCH's Early Childhood Center and Hebrew School, just as Lily did.
