Touch a Truck This Weekend
Monday, June 04, 2012

What child doesn’t dream of sitting behind the wheel of a fire truck, honking the horn of a dump truck or riding high in the air in a cherry picker? Now those dreams can become reality at The Junior League of Greenwich’s 13th annual spring event, “Touch a Truck.” Touch a Truck will take place Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the Greenwich Town Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. – rain or shine! More than 25 trucks, construction vehicles and safety equipment units (and their drivers!) will be on site and available for children of all ages to touch, climb on and explore.
The event, attended by more than two thousand people annually, will include an exciting variety of vehicles such as traditional construction, emergency and rescue vehicles. Children and adults are welcome to ride The Care of Trees cherry picker, touch the Greenwich fire trucks or feel the strength of the asphalt roller provided by Fred Durante Jr. Greenwich Emergency Service will have their ambulance with its flashing lights, and the Greenwich Police department will have motorcycles and police cars.
Entertainment will be provided by the Bossy Frog Band, a fun and funky musical experience for children, young and old. Soccer with Filipo Sports & Entertainment will be on site to provide hands on soccer instruction. Refreshments will be available for purchase and proceeds from the event will benefit the community projects of the Junior League of Greenwich. The event will also feature face painting, an air castle bouncy, an
obstacle course, crafts by Green Moon, a petting zoo, miniature golf, a Roaming Railroad ride, and other surprises. Other sponsors include Chelsea Piers, Cos Cobber, Pinkberry, Au Pair in America, Vineyard Vines, Summer Rain, Greenwich Handyman and more!
General Admissions to the event will be $30 per family for tickets purchased in advance at Junior League of Greenwich or $40 if purchased at the event. There is also a special VIP $100 family ticket which includes a photo shoot from Classic Kids of Greenwich, special VIP red firemen hats for the kids to wear at the event, and a ticket to a 2pm drawing at the event of fabulous prizes such as a Bruder Fire truck donated by Smart Kids of Greenwich, a huge Melissa and Doug stuffed giraffe, a Jack Rabbit's Fall 2012 gym class gift certificate, a Keurig coffee brewer, a Little Erics gift certificate and more!
