Time Capsule Exhibit
Monday, December 27, 3:00pm - 4:00pm in the Community Meeting Room
Display of items Rye children donated for the Time Capsule that was assembled and “buried” on August 31, 1984. The Time Capsule, which was to be opened 25 years later, was part of the library’s centennial celebration and included items the children thought best represented life in Rye in 1984. Over the years the Capsule was “lost”, and we missed the re-opening date in 2009. Happily, with it now found, we have planned an official opening event on November 12 and an exhibit on December 27. Perhaps some of the “original” children will be back in town on holiday visits and will bring their own children to see what life was like in the “old days.” Refreshments will be served.
