$25 on the 25th Campaign
Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Sound Shore Mayors Josh Mandell of Larchmont, Doug French of Rye and Norman Rosenblum of Mamaroneck, today announced a statewide citizen campaign called “$25 on the 25th” to help support “Main Street” businesses across New York State on Saturday, September 25th.
The growing campaign will give New Yorkers a concrete way to support struggling local merchants. It will encourage New Yorkers to shop locally this September 25th, spending at least $25 at a local store or stores. If successful, the “$25 on the 25th” campaign will be repeated.
“Main Street businesses are the heart and soul of this state, and the New York newspaper industry is doing everything it can to stand behind them,” Mr. Apar said. “Twenty-five dollars can make a real difference for a Main Street merchant. We urge New Yorkers to participate in $25 on the 25th and to spread the word.”
“In the current economy, its critical for residents to support their local businesses,” said Mayor Mandell. “You can spend $25 in your favorite restaurant or shop and it will go a long way toward helping the economy without breaking the bank. Our local merchants depend upon our patronage.”
“I applaud the New York Press Association for spearheading a campaign to promote local businesses,” said Mayor French. “Many of our local shop owners are our neighbors and friends and supporting them is vital to the health of our communities. We can all pitch in by spending $25 on the 25th to ensure their doors stay open for years to come.”
So we will see all of you Suzy pals out there shopping away on the 25th- let's help our fave local shops!!
