Westchester Burger Co.
For weeks, people passing by the papered-up windows have been wondering what to make of the Westchester Burger Co., the latest restaurant to take over what was once (many years ago) Bob Hyland's The Single Wing, then Finn McCool's, before turning into the short-lived Hito Asian Bistro. Last week, the owners of Graziella's and Blue, both also in White Plains, opened the totally renovated restaurant, which has 95 seats and an outdoor patio. It's got a definite gastro-pub feel with wood floors, exposed brick, new floor-to-ceiling windows, and 11 craft beers on tap at the 15 seat bar, including Goose Island and local favorite Captain Lawrence. Food wise, this is burgers with a nice twist. There are 19 signature burgers on the menu, including The WBC Burger — 10 ounces of prime chuck with smoked mozzarella, tomatoes, frisee and a special sauce; the Entourage Burger (yes, it's based on the show) which is two sourdough grilled cheese sandwiches with a meaty burger inside, and the Bada Bing burger — a hot Italian sausage and chopped meat patty, topped with some sauteed broccoli rabe. The menu also has tuna, lamb and salmon burgers and a smattering of entrees, like buttermilk fried chicken and a pasta of the day. There is a 45 space parking lot right behind the restaurant, accessed from Westchester Avenue.
